Disc Donation to the Gathering Place
In 2004, used discs were donated to the Gathering Place, a local support centre which runs programs for teens. The discs were donated by the BC Disc Golf Branch.
Club has over 40 members
The Gabriola Disc Golf Club has over 40 members. Thanks to Bryce for all his help in gathering new members.
Presentation made to the Gabriola Recreation Society
A presentation was made to Gabriola Recreation Society on Monday, February 28, 2005 about disc golf and hope to see a course somewhere on the island. The board stated that it is interested in exploring the idea further. The GRS passed a motion “regarding (Michael McCrae’s) further research activities about developing disc golf on Gabriola Island consistent with the Official Community Plan and applicable RDN regulations.”

Locations for a course
You may be aware that the park inventory on the island may grow in the coming months due to new park acquisitions. The club is working with the Regional Disctrict of Nanaimo and Island Trust to see if a course is possible. The club is also making presentations to groups on the island, such as Gabriola Recreation Society. If there is a group that should be contact, please contact mmccrae@yahoo.com.
Some suggested qualities for a suitable course are the following:
1. Large area with varied terrain
2. Environmentally friendly
3. Minimal user conflicts
4. Accessible
